NO copyright indicated - Circa 1915 - Near-Fine copy of this vintage book - No tears - Tight spine - Only writing / mark is previous owner's signature in book front - 333 pages - includes music notation - From the Preface: This book has been written to assist Choral Conductors and Choirmasters, though its scope is not limited to these, as many of the principles embodied in the text are applicable to Soloists as well as to Orchestral and Military Conductors. There is no padding or mere theorizing in the book. Everything written is the outcome of living experience, and has stood the test of many years' trial. Other methods may be equally good, or better; but because I have found what is herein stated to be, in my judgment, the most effective, I have, without reserve, placed my plans and experience at the disposal of all who are seeking to develop Choral music and Choral singing, either in the small Choir or in the large Festival Chorus.

6 1/4 x 9 3/4 - 277 pages - ONLY mark in this vintage book is previous owner's signature in book front - on blank page NO tears - Tight spine - Very nice copy of this 74-year-old book - Author Benjamin Willard Robinson - Professor of New Testament Interpretation In The Chicago Theological Seminary - From the PREFACE: There are many books on the history of the Jews in the time of Jesus. Many also are the books on the teachings of Jesus. Very few, however, are the volumes which attempt the obvious task of bringing the two together. Either the history is given at length with a bare sketch of Jesus, or the message of Jesus is more fully given and the history is so abbreviated that the teaching is not seen in its true perspective. The purpose of this volume is so to present both subjects in sufficient detail that the gem of Jesus' religion will be seen in that appropriate and adequate setting which will enable the modern reader to appreciate its full value and beauty.

Although this effort's original purpose was to induce more effective military suppression of the Apaches, it has all of the fast-paced action and excitement of a novel and the authenticity of an ethnographic and historical document. Synopsis Originally published in 1868, Life Among the Apaches is John Cremory’s intriguing first-person account of pre-reservation Apache life and culture. Written from genuine personal experiences with the Apaches, it has all of the face-paced action and excitement of a novel along with the authenticity of an ethnographic and historical document.

1967 Copyright - No tears - No writing - Tight spine - 244 pages - Frontispiece photo of Bisno - 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 - Abraham Bisno, Union Pioneer - An autobiographical account of Bisno's early life and the beginnings of unionism in the women's garment industry. Bisno, in the early 1900s, one of the best-known labor leaders among the Jewish garment workers in Chicago and New York. Born in Russia in 1866, the son and grandson of tailors, he was apprenticed to the trade as a boy, and when his family migrated to the United States in 1881, he went to work at once; for a short time in Atlanta, where the family first lived, then in Chattanooga, and finally in Chicago, where the family settled in 1882. It was there that his interest in improving conditions for workers developed, and for more than thirt years he took a leading part in union activity in the garment industry, serving in 1890 as the first president of the Chicago Cloak Maker's Union, one of the forerunners of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union and later as chief clerk of the Joint Board of the ILGWU in New York City. Although after 1917 he devoted most of his time to the real estate business, he never lost interest in union affairs.
