Contents Preface. 1. Introduction. 2. Review of literature. 3. Experiments and results. 4. Discussion. 5. Summary. Bibliography. Index. This book deals with the screening of some plant extracts and essential oils against a most common citrus blue mould rot pathogen and presents the findings of research work and the future prospect of essential oils of Mentha arvensis Ocimum canum and Zingiber officinale in control of citrus fruits by protecting them from fungal rotting. The aqueous extract of A. nilotica and Kaempferol isolated from the bark of A. nilotica have also shown the potential to protect the citrus fruits. The active principle were standardized through IR NMR and Mass spectroscopic methods. The essential oils have been found to be non mammalian toxic in nature by pharmacological evaluation. The book is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is Introduction introduces the importance of the problem. Chapter two is Review of literature which is the review of the earlier work done on some natural plant products. Chapter three is Material methods and results in which all the techniques used during the course of research are mentioned and results are presented. Contents Preface. 1. Foreign Trade Policy (1947 48 2004 09) an analysis. 2. Foreign trade magnitude composition and direction. 3. Balance of payment. 4. Foreign capital flows I Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). 5. Foreign capital flows II Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI). 6. Foreign exchange management. 7. WTO and India. Bibliography. The importance of external sector in India's economic development has been well recognized and reinforced especially since the initiation of economic reforms in 1991. A study of India's external sector includes a study of a number of aspects such as value composition direction of foreign trade trade policies pursued balance of payments status role of foreign capital WTO related issues (such as textile and patents) etc. A paradigm shift in India's Trade Policy enabled it to not only overcome severe BOP crisis (occurred in 1991) but also provide the much needed resilience to the economy. India has been experiencing surpluses on current account for the past three successive years and has built up foreign exchange reserves to the tune of $128.91 billion as on Feb. 4 2005. Besides there has been a perceptible change in the magnitude composition and direction of foreign trade as well as a structural change in BOP account. Unlike past India's export basket is now more diversified and gaining more strength from the manufactured goods thereby reducing the share of agriculture and allied products. However in terms of the share of total world trade India's performance has not been so good. It caters to only 0.8 per cent of total world trade at present (as against 2 per cent in early 1950s). This book provides a comprehensive coverage and analysis of various aspects of India's external sector. The present volume should be of interest and use to those in research academics business government and to policymakers engaged in the management of economic policy reforms. It also caters to the needs of students of economics and international business.
