reprint.~ Paperback, G. 423pp, a reading copy only. ~ Hardys hilarious tale of the poor lad with big ideas.

reprint.~ Paperback, F. 438pp, a nice fine copy. ~ Dorset set literature in which Hardy again captures the joys of being alive. Henchard, the main character, sells his wife & baby whilst drunk to a sailor. Overcome with remorse vows never to drink again. He rises to the position of Mayor & 18 years later his wife & daughter return, after the sailor has been lost at sea. No happy ending though.

reprint.~ Paperback, F. 248pp, nice fine as new copy. ~ Oddly for Hardy quite a happy novel.
