The Shelf Life of Bernard Stone. A Celebration. Compiled By Carole Whitaker
STONE, Bernard; Various: Abse, Dannie; Cutler, Ivor; Patten, Brian; Bax, Martin; Benson, Judy; Duffy, Carol Ann; McGough, Roger; Lucie-Smith, Edward; Sillitoe, Alan; Logue, Christopher; Stoppard, Tom, et al. Steadman, Ralph; Simmonds, Posy
Limited Edition Limited Edition 32pp. Published on the occasion of the Bernard Stone moving his near-legendary poetry bookshop from his premises on Lamb's Conduit Street to Great Queen Street, and reading like a who's who of British poetry, this is a collection of poems about Bernard Stone, by a few of the many poets he had befriended and championed, who later went on to be published by the likes of Faber. Limited to 230 copies. Front cover has an image by Ralph Steadman, Stone's long-time collaborator, who, among other things, also provided the illustrations for the broadsheets Stone self-published containing the works of many of these then-undiscovered poets. A lovely copy.
