First Edition 42pp. Bertie's Escapade is reprinted from 'First Whisper of The Wind in the Willows'. This inspirational pig and his carol-singing chums are beautifully illustrated throughout. It is a tiny bit dinged on the head and foot of the spine, the corners are a little bit bumped and there's a mark through the B of 'Bertie' on the cover, but it may be in pencil and erasable. There's a tiny monogram in the top left-hand corner of the free endpaper facing the title page. Otherwise it's a lovely copy Chiswick Shop

vi., 312 pp. plus a 8 pp Methuen catalogue at the end. Profusely illustrated throughout with Shepard's marvellously scratchy funny-tender illustrations. In green cloth; spine is bumped at head and foot, the heroes are gilt-stamped onto the cover. Spine has a crease otherwise very nice. Endpapers, which carry a map of Wild Wood and the environs, are good and bright, with a little spotting. This is the 2nd printing of the E. H. Shepard illustrated edition. Chiswick Shop
