Cloth, VG. viii+147pp, b/w frontis, a nice clean copy. Goldsmith (1731 - 1774) for a long time employed as a writer by Samuel Richardson made his mark with ~ reprint. ~ several novels & plays. She Stoopps To Conquer, a comic play full of rich characterisations about a young lad who is only comfortable talking with barmaids & not nice young ladies. Compications ensue when he goes for the hand of Miss Hardcastle.

Disbound, G. viii+72pp, 4 woodcut vignettes, last pp near detached, a fair copy. ~ ? edition. ~ uncommon edition of the Vicar of Wakefield.

Paperback, VG. 263pp, a very good reading copy. ~ 1st edition thus. ~ Thsi edition also includes a series of essays on the manners & morals of Goldsmiths Age, aswell as a selection of modern critical commentaries.

Full diced calf, G. 452pp, 5 hand coloured plates, index, Ex-Library [Eccles Hotel Bantry Bay] with a stamp to each plate just affecting edge of the image, leather rubbed. ~ reprint. ~ Odd volume from Goldsmiths natural history. This volumes covers snakes, fishes & insects.

Cloth, VG. vi+416pp, b/w frontis, spine rather sunned & faded, Armorial Bookplate of Richard Strachey, a nice copy. ~ 1st edition thus. ~ The collected Essays of the Irish born writer Oliver Goldsmith [ 1730 - 1774 ]. The initial tranche were published in the 'Bee' a periodical largely written by Goldsmith. The others appeared from 1759 onwards in several other periodicals.
