The last printed pages [ Aa4 ] are the catalogue of the publisher, Benjamin Dod. ~ De Officiis [ On Duties ] of Cicero as translated & edited by Pearce. Cicero's work of 44 BC is divided into three books & is one of his most influential works. Giving his views on the correct moral & ethical way to conduct one's life, it is written in an anecdotal style & gives an insight into Roman political values & conflicts of the time. Zachary Pearce, Bishop of Rochester [ 1690 -1774 ], and noted academic, published a scholarly edition of Cicero's De Oratore in 1716 which established his academic reputation.
