First Edition 8 pamphlets, each around 50 pages long, each originally published separately probabaly all on different dates in 1850 (all are dated bar the first, which I am presuming dates from the same year) and bound together in one volume later that same year. Considerable amounts of foxing or marking in places, never obscuring the text but making the pages look pretty untidy. Carlyle is cited as the editor but the original binder's title label of 'Carlyle's Latter-Day Pamphlets' is probably factually incorrect. Brown calf with brown marbled boards and edges. The 8 subjects are: The Present Time; Model Prisons; Downing Street; The New Downing Street (listed in this order in contents page but actually bound so that New Downing St precedes Downing St); Stump-Orator; Parliaments; Hudson's Statue; Jesuitism.
