Alice G. Miller, PhD, is a psychotherapist. She has made a career of helping her clients on their deeply personal journeys.
Like her clients, Miller is on her own journey, seeking a path to peace that isn’t always clear. She deeply believes in pacifism but isn’t above delivering a knee to the groin if someone really deserves it. Besides, that only happened once.
Miller has benefited from many teachers during her spiritual journey, from the insight of world religions to a gentle leader of the peace movement. And then, of course, there’s her garden.
In Finding Peace in Our Thyme: A Psychotherapist’s Path, Miller shares the deeply personal story of how gardening brought—and continues to bring—her solace during the rockier stretches of her life’s journey. Her deep and sometimes irreverent sense of humor shines through as she discusses the need to “wage peace” against injustice and how the simple act of planting a seed can change one’s perspective of the world.
Take a walk in Miller’s garden. You’ll find the path has its share of weeds and rocks, but the trip is more than worthwhile.
