This collection of new poems and prose by Seattle writer and 2009 Poet Populist Michael G. Hickey's is at turns comedic and wry, rich in his signature wit. Hickey's work runs the gamut of his experience as father, husband, teacher, writer, labor leader, political activist, bereavement counselor, and mentor to youth detention inmates. He keeps his poems on target, although one that constantly shifts, from the poignant "Why I Want to Give you my Hat" to the humorous and poignant "Linda's Home Improvement Loan." To call Hickey multifaceted misses the point. He's put all he is into all he does, delivering a set of poems that reads like a play list of songs you'll want to listen to again and again.
