About the Author:
Mitchell Gaynor, M.D. is founder and president of Gaynor Integrative Oncology and Asst. Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill College, affiliated with Cornell University and New York Hospital. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer at hospitals, conferences, and universities throughout America and abroad. Dr. Gaynor has been listed consecutively in The Best Doctors in New York since 1997 and serves on the Board of Advisors for The Sass Foundation for Medical Research, and Healthy Living Magazine as well as the Editorial board at the Journal of Cancer Integrative Medicine. He is also the senior health advocate for the Carriage House Foundation. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas–Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, he was a clinical fellow in hematology-oncology at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Gaynor has received the Environmental Advocate of the Year award from the Breast Cancer Options Foundation as well as a Certificate of Recognition from the New York State Assembly for his work on cancer and the environment. He delivered an invited lecture at the United Nations on the medical implications of water pollution in 2003 and has written and lectured widely on environmental pollution and human illness. Dr. Gaynor is the best selling author of three books and a CD: · The Healing Power of Sound: Recovery from Life-Threatening Illness Using Sound, Voice, and Music (Shambhala Publications, 2002). · Dr. Gaynor’s Cancer Prevention Program (Kensington Books, 1999). · Healing Essence: A Cancer Doctor’s Practical Program for Hope and Recovery (Kodansha, 1995). Well known in the media as an integrative medical specialist, Dr. Gaynor is frequently called upon to discuss such topics as nutritional aspects of cancer prevention, integrating traditional and complementary cancer therapies; the dangers of carcinogens to human health. He has been featured in many national newspapers, including The New York Times, USA Today, Newsday, The New York Post, and New York Daily News. He has also been a source for articles in many national magazines including Newsweek, Publishers Weekly, GQ, Healthy Living, New Texas Magazine, and USA Weekend. His appearances on television and radio are extensive.
