The Usborne Introduction to Archaeology: Internet-Linked - Hardcover

Gr. 6--9. Even without referencing Usborne's dedicated Web site, where readers will find links to additional print, audio, and video material, this oversize book in the Archaeology series is chockablock with great stuff, beginning with some bits on archaeology in general, and ending with information on techniques used to date and preserve finds. In between, the authors conduct a concise but fascinating continent-by-continent survey, highlighting a wide range of discoveries (keyed to maps) that bind us to ancient civilizations. The graphics are excellent: maps; sharp, colorful photos; and charts all placed smartly on the pages and accompanied by captions that supply much of the informational content. There's not enough information about any one thing for report writers, but this will definitely set them off in the right direction and provide browsers and science buffs with plenty of curious, fascinating facts.
